Workshop Schedule 2013

Workshops to be held at Selwyn Community College in 2013

1. How to indie (self) publish and market your books

One-day course: Saturday 9 November 2013, 9.30am - 4.30pm

Tutors: Jocelyn Watkin and James George

Tired of publishers that say no? Discover how easy it is to indie publish (self-publish), whether in print or as an e-book. Learn the "nuts and bolts" of indie-publishing, including costs and how to get an ISBN, along with tips and ideas on how to market and promote your book(s).

In this course you will learn:  The right steps from word document to finished book; What the costs are and how to price your book; How to avoid scams and other perils when indie-publishing; How to write a summary/back cover blurb that will make people want to read your book; How to identify your audience (target readers) and how to market your books to that audience. N.B. This is a course on how to indie (self) publish and sell your writing - not on how to write your book.  If you'd like a course on creative writing, we are planning a summer school in January 2014.  Details will be available in due course.  If you want to be one of the first to know about the courses available for our summer school for writers, then send us a message now via our contact form (to the right of this page, and up a bit) and we'll add you to our e-newsletter list.

Bring your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
